Chris Clermont has been engaged in the private practice of law since 1989. Chris has operated out of the same office since 1993. Chris' practice concentrates on employment law, estates law and civil litigation. Regardless of whether you are an employer, employee, estate trustee, beneficiary or you simply need to collect an outstanding debt, Chris can help.  Chris  applies a wealth of experience and professionalism to every file and he customizes his services to meet the  individual needs of the client.

With nearly thirty years of experience as a lawyer, Chris is ready to help. Chris has argued cases from Small Claims Court level up to and including the Court of Appeal for Ontario, He has also appeared before Provincial Boards, and Arbitration Panels. Chris understands the legal procedure and can help you navigate through the process to achieve the desired result.

Wills and Estates

Chris provides careful advice in the estate planning and estate administration process and he understands the difficulties encounter in preparing their estate plan, and the conflicts than may arise during the administration of estate assets. Chris has extensive experience in drafting:

  • Wills; and

  • Powers of Attorney for Property and Personal Care.

Civil Litigation

Chris represents people who are engaged in a dispute in which damages are claimed.

  • Claims with a value of less than $25,000 proceed in the Small Claims Court;

  • Claims with a value of more than $25,000 but less than $100,000 proceed in the Superior Court of Justice under the Simplified Procedure; and

  • Claims of more than $100,000 proceed in the Superior Court of Justice.
